Christmas Rose Jewel - Polymer Clay Tutorial

Hellebore, also known as Winter Rose, Christmas Rose or Lenten Rose, blooms in December, near Winter Solstice. In this new video tutorial we'll sculpt it from polymer clay, to wear it as a Fairy Jewel in the Christmas Night :) 

I used a mix of Cernit White Porcelain and White Fimo Professional to sculpt the petals. To color them, I used mica powder pink, light green and dark green. I sculpted pistils from White Porcelain Cernit and I color them with chalk pastels yellow and light green.

In ancient times, people believe that Hellebore cured madness. I think it's good to sculpt it in these pre Christmas made days! :)

After the Rain

In the Wood after the Rain...

 each Leave is adorned with Pearls...

 and each Ear, each Stem and little Blade too...

It's a Rain Fairies's Spell... that are whispering:

"Summer, get ready, Autumn is just behind the Hill..."

A Fairy Sweet Pea

Walking in the Wood with a Little Fairy as a fellow-traveller, I was inspired so much by a little Wild Sweet Pea...

 It was so lovely and delicate! I tried to put that Beauty in the sculpting, so a Sweet Pea Fairy Jewel was born...

In the Language of Flowers, Sweet Pea means "Departure, I'm sorry I must leave"...

So I was sorry to leave that Enchanted Wood.

An Enchanted Bramble

If you go in the Countryside to pick Blackberries, during the mid-August Holidays...

 ...you I might meet a Fairy Brumble!

 And some little Fairy, made curious, might come down from the Bramble to say hallo...

And whispering the inspiration to create a Fairy Jewel, to celebrate the Summer...

 and honoring the shiny blue and red gems...

that Bramble gave with generosity!

Ear of Wheat Necklace

A little Fairy Spike, to celebrate the Harvest Home!

And singing the Cerere's Song in the Wood stroked by the Wind.

Iris Baby Fairy

A dewdrop is dropping from the blue-violet Flower...

on the forehead of the little Fairy who sleeps inside it. 

She is the Iris Baby Fairy and she is just waking... to paint a rainbow!

Poppy Study

Just some pics from my study in Poppies for this season

Experimenting different way trying to express their spirit, playing a little with painting and sculpting...

I realized for the first time how 'ruffled' are poppy's petals! I think is this look - together the lightness - that makes the Poppy so cheerful... Jolly and warm Souls, just like their season! 

Note: The girl that is looking my study came from my illustration  "Flying with the Poppies".

The Cherry Blossom Little Fairy

In Rome there is a place where, in Spring, you can admire the Cherry Tree blossoming...

It's the Japan Walk, around the EUR lake. Petals not yet floating in the air, only the Elves' ribbon dances with the wind.

But between some days, delicate white clouds'll decorate the lake. It's the Sakura given by Tokyo city to Rome, in the '50 years. If you pay attention, you could see a little Fairy between the flowers: she's the Cherry Blossom Fairy.

Every Spring, the Japanese community of Rome - and always more Romans -  celebrate the Hanami here. I go here, too, to visit the Trees and the Little People of the Park: Duks, Bumblebees and... Fairies!

Last Saturday and I met there the Little Cherry Blossom Fairy and a Sleeping Baby Elf! 

Little Fairy told me that only the Young Trees are in blossom, at the moment, so she was waiting...

...that the Old Trees' buds grow up

and Sleeping Elves wake up!

In the meantime, she look at the lake and, thinking of the Beauty and the Fleeting of a Cherry Flower life, she help him to blossom.

A Fairy Magnolia Tree

In an Enchanted Garden - so far from the city - there is a Fairy Magnolia Tree. 

Last Sunday my Fairy Friend and me went to visit it. Magnolia is all in blossom, a sweet pink cloud!

Why is it Fairy? Because it's Beautiful, in my view. But, if it were not enough... Legend has it that inside each of its Bud sleeps a Little Winged Elf, who wakes up as soon as the flower opens, just before the arrival of Spring. 

My Fairy friend enjoyed herself a lot looking inside each of them, trying to wake up the Little Elves, to admire the magic flowers opening, so I took advantage of this to take these snaps. It's a very rare event to see, for a Human!

Usually only Children, Fairies and Wild Mice can see the Little Winged Elves. It's very difficult to see them because, as soon as the flowers are opens, they fly away! But all of us can feel them, because it's their voice, in the last days of Winter, that whispers from heart to heart: "Don't be afraid, Spring is coming..."

Celandine is blooming!

Celandine's Stars come to announce the arrival of Spring at long last!

In the Wood Fairies are waking up... There is much to do, all the world needs new colors! 

Celandine blooms when Swallows come back and in Flowers' Language she means "joys to come".

Its Flowers are shiny jellow... Didn't seems like Bright Stars? In Spring I have a feeling that they joint Heaven and Earth!

The Lesser Celandine is a small flower, but it was much celebrated. It was the Wordsworth's favorite flower, who dedicated her two poem. 

That's just a little verse, one of my favourite: 

“There is a flower, the Lesser Celandine,

      That shrinks, like many more, from cold and rain,

      And the first moment that the sun may shine,

      Bright as the sun himself, ’tis out again!”
