This mini sculpture is my best-loved piece of the whole collection that I'll show at the dollhouse fair next week-end :)
It's about a little Rabbit and his Mouse friend... they are playing and the little Mouse gives a little kiss to his best friend Bunny :)
They and me - together all the Celidonia's Rabbit, Mice, Fairies, Babies and little Girls - both in polymer clay and in the flesh, will waiting for you a Miniaturitalia, in Milan, next week-end! :)
This little Mouse needs extra sweets! ^^ The little Robin made his Nest in an old broken mini polymer clay soup tureen, he would rather the contents! I can't blame him! Can you do? ^^

The first Mouse of the year has his blog post! And he has a dilemma: to eat or not to eat the candied cherry? :D
I think he'll eat, because he needs energy for the fair! We'll be at Miniaturitalia next week-end :)
Sculpting and painting this little mouse was hard work for my eyes ^^ I used a stereoscopic microscope, and painted him wit the paintbrush with one only bristle that I used for the little birds :)
While the mouse think about the cherry, we are making preparations for the leaving. We hope to meet you at the Miniature Fair next saturday and sunday! :D
This little one is the latest bird that will came with me at Miniaturitalia. It's a little Robin that looks after his Nest ^^

Here is another little bird ready to fly for Miniaturitalia. Some little snowflakes fell today in Rome, so he'll need extra-feed to fly as far as Milan, I think ^^
The Blue Tit has wonderful colors: blue wings, yellow body, green back and a lovely black and white eye mask. He seems a fairytale character! It was hard reproducing this color, because they are so lively that in a sculpture it was the risk they become false. Maybe this is just the magic of the Blue Tit: bringing in the sky the colors of the wild flowers and fields.
I used the same only-one-bristle brush that I used for the little Long-Tailed Tit to paint it, and the acrylic colors for miniatures too. In this case painting was more hard than sculpting, I need to study volume and space to put the color with great attention, but I think in the end it was enough like the little one that came to visit me some time ago ^^
Who knows, will he recognize himself seeing this little miniature? ^^
Although all new miniatures I'll exhibit at the fair are in the video I uploaded on my YouTube last Monday and shared in my last post, I decided to dedicate a post and some pics for each of them :)
Here is the first, the long Tailed Tit eating a pomegranate :)
The Long-Tailed Tit is a very tiny bird, and it's was hard sculpting and painting him. I painted it using a brush with just one only bristle ^^
I used acrylic colors specific for miniatures, to paint the bird, and soft pastels to paint the pomegranate :)
Long Tailed Tit and Blue Tit are friends, and the Blue Tit will be on my next post :)

Rabbits, Robins, Fairies and me are so busy with preparations for the fair! I hope you'll enjoy the video. There are so many new polymer clay tutorials projects in my head, and so short time in my life these days! I hope I'll record some of them as soon as I'll return from the fair :)

This little Robin likes sweets and he alighted on a big slice of chocolate cake, with whipped cream and cherry jam :D
My 1/12 scale mini robins are a little different now. Their little legs are fully sculpted, little feet too, and they have a more realistic coloring. I don't use soft pastel for their coloring now - I used them only for cake - but I use special acrylics color for model-making. It needs some additional hours of work, but I think it's a good result :)
I painted the little blue tint between the red and the brown with a paintbrush that has only one bristle. I'm working on a Long-tailed tit too, and I hope I'll find the colors to paint a little blue tit ^^
As I promised, here is the video tutorial to create lifelike eyes, for ooak doll, fairies and other figures. It was up on my YouTube last Monday, but I can update the blog only now. I'm very busy sculpting miniatures for Miniaturitalia, the dollhouse and Miniature Fair in Milan, Italy.
I used the Millefiori cane method to create the iris eye. There are other methods too, you can also paint it (using Genesis color or acrylic color), but it is my best-loved method :)
To create the crystalline lens I used Lisa Pavelka Magic-Glos. It needs UV Lamp, but there are other 3d resins that don't need it, if you do not have. Or you can use liquid polymer clay too :)
So, here is the video tutorial and... I must go to finish to sculpt the last robin :)
In February in Milan will be the Dollhouse and Miniature Fair, Miniaturitalia. I'll give two workshops there: how to sculpt a ooak baby head in polymer clay and how to sculpt arms and hands :)

The mini sculpture that I worked these days is finished at last! :) The Micro Fairy had her wings and the little Robin Redbreast had his berry. Together, are on a snow-covered Hawthorn branch.
The little Robin is hungry and the little Fairy goes to him's aid, giving him a berry she kept for him. They was playfellow in Summer!
Everyone could be a Birds' Fairy Friend, in Winter, feeding and taking care of them.
A Sparrow family and a Redtail always come on my balcony in Winter. Sometimes a wonderful Blue Tit comes too, and even a Kestrel came one day! They often inspired my sculptures and this work was inspired by them, too :)
Gosh! What do the Goddess Sekhmet doing among Celidonia's Rabbits, Mice and Fairies? :O
She is an unusual commission that I worked these days :)
Goddess Sekhmet is an Egyptian Warrior Goddess and she has the sun disk in her head. An Egyptian myth says that the Sun is inside the Goddess when it's night and it says that you can see the Sun light reflected in her eyes.
Sekhmet is a solar deities. Even though I didn't it on purpose, my ooak sculpture in polymer clay dedicated to her is born just after the Winter Solstice, when the light is born again. I think it's a good time to be born for a Goddess that has the solar disk as a crown :)
The part 2 of the Birthday Fairy video tutorial is up on my YouTube! :) In this part we'll see how to sculpt the limbs. We'll sculpt the arms and hands, the legs and feet. So, the Fairy will have almost a body! ^^ I share the video here, too :) The third part will be up next Monday! :)
Here I am with a new video tutorial. When I started working on it, I was too much optimistic: I'd like to sculpt from polymer clay a Birthday Fairy, I thought, as the video upload was exaclty for my birthday day ^^
Hi! I'm a Birthday Fairy and I'm made from Polymer Clay, like my cupcake! Would you like celebrating together with me? :)
But I got carriet away by the project, so it become very very long. Over 200 clips, two shoot days and other two days to editing the first part. It needed to be splitted in three parts, with weekly schedule. In this first we'll see the head sculpting. In the next we'll see how to sculpt the hands, the arms, the feet and the legs. In the third we'll see how to make the cupcake, the dress and the hair :)
Fairy head, arms and legs are sculpted from Super Sculpey Living Doll, in the light color. Eyes are made from Fimo and resin, but I don't explain the doll eyes making in this tutorial. I made myself eyes for my dolls, but they are available online in many dollmaking shop. There are many tutorials that explain how make them, too. Hellebore, also known as Winter Rose, Christmas Rose or Lenten Rose, blooms in December, near Winter Solstice. In this new video tutorial we'll sculpt it from polymer clay, to wear it as a Fairy Jewel in the Christmas Night :)
I used a mix of Cernit White Porcelain and White Fimo Professional to sculpt the petals. To color them, I used mica powder pink, light green and dark green. I sculpted pistils from White Porcelain Cernit and I color them with chalk pastels yellow and light green.
In ancient times, people believe that Hellebore cured madness. I think it's good to sculpt it in these pre Christmas made days! :)
Do you know why do leaves curl in Autumn? To protect the little Fairies who didn't realize that cold Winter is coming! They become a quilt for them :)
The Fairies, rock by the winter, fall asleep. Their wings become little and a green grass grow up. In its sap Children's Summer dreams flow. So, the little fairies'll go in the Undergound with their Summer Sisters, until next Spring, when between the grass will bloom a Flower.
I find one of them while I walking in the park. She was going with her sisters underground, but she'd like be here in the Human Word too. So, a little bit of her spirit went in a little polymer clay ball and a Baby Fairy just like her is born :)
The little Fairy joined with her sisters now, in the underground, but a little bit of her will be here, in the Human World, in this Winter and Winters that will be :)
In the Celidonia's World, Rabbits and Mice are a little bit worried, because in this video tutorial we'll create... a Cat!
In 1/12 scale and sculpted from polymer clay, of course! :)
I hope you'll create a lot of little brothers of him, and I hope they'll purr on the couch of yours dollhouses or roomboxes... I'd like to see some photos! :)

My first Walnut Elf was born in 2009. Maybe someone who followeed Fairydoor's blog some years ago remembers that little one. Ever since, many Walnut Elves was born. This is a new little one, born in these days :)
Fairies and Elves love nutshell and hazelnut shell. They are comfortable nests from which go out to see the world.
